For over a decade Susannah Baker-Smith travelled and worked extensively in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. In 2007/8 she studied at the Institute of Contemporary Photography (ICP) in New York and has since embarked on a series of interrelated projects which embrace digital, analogue and alternative photographic processes. Each project is realised loosely in book form, creating a tactile and visual dialogue with objects and images. Her experience of both film and literature feed into her work in oblique ways.
In 2018 she was one of the four selected artists for Circulations Festival (a festival of emerging European artists) in Paris, and she has exhibited in London and Amsterdam. Her commercial work includes shooting for C/O Vienna, Another magazine, Wonderland, Violet, Ingenue.
“Don’t we touch each other just to prove we are still here?” An exhibition for Princeton University was co-curated with Susan Bright.
